About the role:
We are looking for a Director of Strategy & Analytics to join us! This is a new role - pivotal in our mission to leverage the power of data to drive business decisions, enhance user experiences, and propel our marketplace to new heights.
In this role, you will collaborate with the Leadership Team and lead a talented team of data and analytics professionals embedded within Commercial Ops, Product, Marketing, and Sales. Your responsibilities include identifying opportunities, providing insights, and ideating and executing data-driven strategies. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will serve as a key partner to the executive team on company strategy, business planning/performance, and high-priority data requests, shaping decisions across various areas such from OKR performance, and strategic investments to M&A.
What will you be doing…
- Team Leadership: Manage and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data analysts and data engineers, to evolve the collective to high-performing. Foster a collaborative, inquisitive, and innovative culture within data roles.
- Data Governance, Privacy, and Security: Collaborate with the Data Protection Officer (Legal) and Info Security as needed to establish data governance policies, procedures, and best practices. Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with regulations. Monitor data quality and integrity, taking corrective actions as needed. Support existing and new security measures to protect customer and business data.
- Data Strategy and Vision: Consult effectively with the wider Leadership Team to devise, develop, and articulate a clear data strategy aligned with business objectives. Lead the creation of a data roadmap to support the long-term growth and success of the marketplace.
- Data Culture: Foster a data-driven culture across the organisation by democratising access to data and insights and promoting data literacy.
- Data Analysis and Insights: Utilise advanced analytics and data mining techniques to extract actionable insights from large datasets. Provide recommendations to improve user experiences, conversion rates, and business performance.
- Data Visualization and Reporting: Support and guide internal resources to create and maintain effective data dashboards and reports to enhance communication of key metrics and insights to stakeholders, empowering business teams with self-service reporting tools and insights.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Utilise data resources to drive strategic decision-making across the Leadership Team regarding business priorities, and areas of commercial opportunity, and to help unblock challenges.
What you will need to bring…
- At least five years of experience in business analytics or strategic consultancy with effective people management skills, preferably in an e-commerce or marketplace environment or a top-five management consultancy.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field is highly desirable but not essential (e.g., Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Business).
- Proven experience (5+ years plus) in a leadership role in data management and analytics with a track record of working with senior leadership to influence strategy and drive organisational change.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and extensive experience with data modelling, visualisation, and reporting.
Essential Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of data technologies, including data warehouses, data lakes, ETL processes, and business intelligence tools.
- Proficiency in data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and programming languages (e.g., Python, R).
